Tea is a favorite among Asians and Europeans, but other countries have grown increasingly fond of it. Green tea and black tea are the most consumed variety of tea in the world.

People often compare the amount of anti-oxidants present in both green tea and black tea. Black tea is processed more than green tea. This is why green tea contains more anti-oxidants. Furthermore, green tea contains more catechins. Catechins are responsible for green tea’s many health benefits. Most of the black tea’s catechins are oxidized into new substances during manufacturing, although these new substances are still healthy.

Black tea is more consumed than green tea. One reason behind it is that the black tea contains caffeine. Although not as much caffeine is found in black tea compared to coffee, most people who want to have a little kick especially in the morning opt to go with black tea rather than green tea.

Green tea is also more calming than black tea. This is perfect during hours where we do not really need to stay awake; usually during the evening or late afternoon.

The tastes of the two variety of tea are also distinctive. Green tea taste a little grassy, this is because green tea is almost like drinking a freshly picked tea leaf. Black tea is more refined and is a lot sweeter than the green tea, so this is why it is more popular on western cultures.

Your tea choice is really a matter of personal preference. Try out both and see which one you prefer. Both are healthy and very good for your health.
